DRONE APP INSTRUCTION MANUAL
ABSTRACT:
The setup document provides instructions for both drone owners and Drisitors using the Drisit network. It highlights the supported drone models, Android compatibility, and the installation process for the Drisit Drone App. Key steps include downloading the latest app version and connecting the phone to the drone remote control. Additionally, the document offers troubleshooting tips, emphasizes the benefits of using a drone landing pad, and provides guidance on safe drone placement and battery management.
THERE ARE TWO USER TYPES AT DRISIT:
-
Drone owners own the drone and put it on the Drone network to allow someone to use it.
-
Drisitors use drones on the Drisit network. Drisitor instructions are here.
DRONES SUPPORTED:
DJI Mavic, Phantom & Inspire series. Mavic Enterprise & Matrice series. Specifically, Drisit currently supports DJI Mini 2, DJI Mini SE, DJI Air 2S, Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced, Mavic Air 2, Mavic Mini, Matrice 300 RTK, Matrice 200 V2, Matrice 210 V2, Matrice 210 RTK V2, Phantom 4 RTK, Mavic 2 Enterprise, Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual, Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic 2 Zoom.
DRONE OWNER INSTRUCTIONS:

-
Drisit supports Android 10, 11, 12 and 13. If your Android version is earlier than that, you should upload to at least Android 12 (if your phone allows it) or use another Android phone with a more recent OS.
Upgrading the Android OS version is out of the scope of this document.
2. ONE TIME ONLY:
-
If you are buying a new drone, buy the DJI Care Refresh before activating the drone. This is easier than worrying about video verifications at a later date to purchase the same, and provides for free replacement drones.
-
Install the Drisit Drone app on the Android phone:
-
If you have an existing Drisit Drone app, uninstall it. To uninstall, press on the app, select Details, then Uninstall.
-
Download the latest version directly to your Android phone from Google Play:
-
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.drisit.drone_app
Download one of the Drisit landing patterns, print it and tape it to something that won’t fly away when your drone lands on it, such as a landing pad. This will dramatically improve landing precision.
EVERY TIME:
-
Make sure the drone is charged. We suggest you have two batteries and always keep one charging.
-
Make sure the phone is connected to Wifi (ideally) or has cellular signal. If you don’t have a good signal, you may not be able to log into the drone app.
-
Connect phone to drone remote control back right port (by the antenna) with a USB-C cable. The longer the cable, the less possible interference between them.
-
Pull out the antenna.
-
Place the drone in a flat area that:
-
Has nothing above it, and
-
Is a viable landing spot for a few meters in every direction (no water, walls, trees, etc.)
-
-
Power drone on
-
Power the drone remote control on
-
Open the Drisit Drone app and accept permissions on first launch. Buttons will enable once the drone is detected
-
Select "Control Drone" button
-
Click live stream button, select the desired resolution (more for better resolution, less for lower bandwidth requirements) and select "Ok"
-
Optionally, turn on remote control, geofence, missions or Follow Me mode on. The drone is now ready to be controlled remotely by a user from app.drisit.com or using the Drisitor app.
-
For mission flights:
-
Create a mission using the builder in the menu on the left at app.drisit.com
-
Assign it to your drone using the assign to drone button at bottom either a) right after creating the geofence or b) loading the mission at https://app.drisit.com/mission-builder , or c) using the Mission/Geofence button in the My Drones option of the menu on the left side of the screen
-
Click mission button on the drone app on your phone after live stream is on
-
For geofenced flights:
-
Create a geofence using the builder in the menu on the left at app.drisit.com
-
Assign it to your drone using the assign to drone button at bottom either a) right after creating the geofence or b) loading the mission at https://app.drisit.com/geofence-builder , or c) using the Mission/Geofence button in the My Drones option of the menu at left
-
Click mission button on the drone app on your phone after live stream is on
-

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE:
-
The solution to most issues, especially connectivity with the drone, is to reset connectivity. This can be done in a number of ways, in order of fastest to slowest:
Turn remote control off and on (e.g. close the drone app and restart it. Sometimes it is enough to simply turn off and on control and/or live stream.
Always check that you have a good internet, or alternatively, cellular, connection for the phone.
TIPS:
Use of a drone landing pad is highly recommended for improved landing accuracy. They are inexpensive and available on Amazon, for example.
DJI app and Drisit Drone App running on a phone conflict with each other. The app that starts first controls the drone and stops the other app from connecting to it. Make sure you don’t have the DJI app running.
Place the drone in a flat area where GPS landing errors would not cause the drone to not be able to land safely. Sometimes return to home is accurate to within centimeters, sometimes it can be off by a few meters.
If the drone returns to a location that is a little bit off the original take off location and ends on top of a spot not safe to land on, the drone remote control can be used to move the drone before landing it and to land it –see drone app options in the LAND menu, including Return to Home, Land and Force Land.
Keep a spare battery always charging or charged so you always have a charged battery ready.
Note that GPS gets better over time that the drone has been powered on, and is better in areas with an unobstructed view of the skies.
Make sure the drone is several meters away from buildings or metal structures that may interfere with the drone’s sensors.
